The Issues

1) Invest in our infrastructure -- More parks, public transportation, wise use of the FEC corridor, fix up neglected sidewalks, streets, lighting, landscaping and drainage.

2)Responsible development -- Concentrate on building out the downtown, Brickell and surrounding areas while protecting existing residential neighborhoods. Encourage green building standards and historic preservation. Protect the Miami River as a working river. Fix Miami 21 and get it implemented.

3) Services -- The city budget needs to be realigned to reflect the new challenges of this economy -- back to basics.  The money should be used to add police, fire stations and more services for the elderly and families. Taxes and insurance need to come in line with the new economic reality people are facing. We need to be working with Tallahassee on this.

4) Jobs, jobs, jobs -- The city should be investing in the creation of high-quality, long-term jobs in every district. Need targeted support for small business, the lifeblood of our community. Enhance the small business corridors along Coral Way and Calle Ocho to make them draws for tourists and residents alike.

5) Bring democracy back to City Hall -- While projects like the Marlins stadium and the port tunnel have their pros and cons, the people deserve the right to voice their vote. They should be presented the options in an transparent manner, so we know what the city is doing and can hold it accountable.
